“MTV + Life Project” Team Ranks # 1 Among More Than 200 Teams
and Participates For Fourth Consecutive Year
Miami Beach, Fla., April 25, 2008 – Following last Sunday’s successful AIDS Walk Miami 2008, MTV Networks Latin America (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B) announced today that the “MTV + LIFE Project” team, now in its fourth consecutive year, raised $45,000 and currently ranks number one among more than 200 registered teams. More than forty team members showed up last Sunday to walk, run or blade for the cure, some with their babies in strollers and others with their pets. A post-walk celebration held at Miami Beach Botanical Gardens featured a live performance by new-music sensation Life Project, currently promoting their new album Life Project: LP2, released earlier this month. The “MTV + Life Project” team’s limited edition t-shirts were designed, displayed and sold by BASE (considered one of the leading lifestyle stores in the US) in Miami Beach while the team’s booth at the event also sold Life Project CDs and team t-shirts to help raise funds for the cause.
“The tremendous results from this year’s Walk show just how committed MTV Networks Latin America remains to our community,” said Mario Cáder-Frech, Vice President, Public Affairs and Corporate Social Responsibility, MTV Networks Latin America. “We are pleased to bring awareness to this cause as well as to such incredible talent like Life Project and BASE, both of whom have been outstanding partners.”
“Care Resource is extremely proud to have once again partnered with MTV Latin America for AIDS Walk Miami. This being the 25th year of the agency and the 20th Anniversary of the Walk it was our goal to make this year extra special, and it was, but that could have never happened without the help of MTV Latin America and Life Project,” said Terry DeCarlo, Public Relations and Marketing Manager for Care Resource. “The amount of people who showed up to walk on their team and the amount of money raised shows their commitment not only to the agency but to the women, children and men in South Florida affected and infected with this disease. Care Resource cherishes the partnership with MTV Latin America and looks forward to continuing this collaboration for many, many years to come.”
More than 3,500 participants descended on Miami Beach on Sunday, April 20th, for the 20th annual AIDS Walk Miami. The course started and ended at the Miami Beach Convention Center and was 3.1 miles (5K) in length. Proceeds from AIDS Walk Miami 2008 will benefit Care Resource, The Gay and Lesbian Community Center of South Florida, Broward House, and Food For Life Network Food Bank in both Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.
